Project Engineer
The Company is a dynamic project based environment which aims to innovate and develop technologies to
improve the effectiveness and protection of military and security services.
The company specialises in materials and product development for protection solutions across the whole
spectrum of platforms, personnel, aircraft, land and marine vehicles. ADM is committed to delivering the
solutions of the future and supporting the implementation of these solutions through platform integration
to the frontline. The presence is highly international and works with governments and defence contractors
both in the UK and internationally.
The successful candidate will be willing to learn and will be enrolled in our workplace training program with
the eventual aim of becoming a self sufficient specialist in this area of technology within 3-5 years.
Many of the projects are based on ceramics, metals, technical textiles and advanced composites and
someone who is able to understand the technologies required of such materials would be at a significant
advantage. A professional qualification in engineering with a slant on the materials technology would be
important. 3D CAD knowledge is also required at a level whereby the candidate can design items and
express concepts to customers. A key part of the role is organising and carrying out tests and trials.
As well as a practical approach to the work, a good standard of written English is essential. These
skills will allow the job holder to fully understand the customer requirements, write up initial proposals
to customers for obtaining the business; then make technical reports back to the customers on the trials.
Encouragement will be given to allow the candidate to become a real expert in the field.
Some foreign (European) language skills would be helpful, but not essential.
The qualities that the candidate should display are:
Ø Have a good outgoing personality; be organized and able to take responsibility.
Ø Should to be hard working and really enjoy interaction with individuals within the customer base
whom they will get to know quite well.
Ø Tactful, have a good telephone manner, and must observe strict confidentiality at all times.
Ø Have a curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, excellent technical and communication skills.
Ø Must be able to apply their technical knowledge / specialism to the role and be able to identify when
to ask for extra input from more senior personnel in the company. They should, after training, give
confidence to the customer that they are able to conduct the tasks involved with a high level competence.
Ø Needs to be fit and active to allow full participation in trials. Some practical engineering ability necessary in the role.
Ø Willingness to travel on company business to customers in UK and abroad.
Ø The ability to develop a commercial acumen to succeed in the sales role, but does not need characteristics for high pressure sales.
Ø Full driving license essential. No major convictions or accidents that would disbar job holder the use of company vehicle.
The role requires access to UK defence facilities and companies so the applicant needs to be either a UK
national or hold an existing NATO security clearance and will be subject to a police records check.
